The Skill Of Silence

Silence is a skill
a writer, by design, lacks.
That’s why men fight windmills
and poor France has Hunchbacks.

A writer, by design, lacks
desire to go downhill.
And would rather make tracks,
despite pain, uphill

That’s why men fight windmills.
When writers smell lilacs
Passion fills their quill,
loves glories they wax.

And poor France has Hunchbacks
who bravely claim freewill.
After this, how can we be lax?
A soul’s void they refill.

Silence is a skill.
